lyrics

I felt the need to leave the room
I never saw just what I assumed
Walking slow along a dark dirt road
That twists and shadows yesterday to tomorrow

We stopped my car down by the beach
And you got sand all over your feet
Then you went down below
The waves crashing slow
They teased and pulled and shattered all I know

And I'm finally free to ponder on
Aware that all the wonder's gone
Love you look so cold why don't you stop

A close encounter, under the stars
As you told me you loved my car
And on your shoulder a tattoo
Reminded me that you're a Sioux
Which is funny, cause you only love your coffee black

You laid around and watched me go
I tried to help you, but you're a stone
You didn't move, you didn't budge
You didn't even make a nudge
So you can sit in your apartment by yourself

And I'm finally free to ponder on
Aware that all the wonder's gone
Love you look so cold why don't you stop

I never saw the sun
I took it as a sign that my life's already done
Saying hallelujah I've become a man is really pretty dumb to say, when I'm walking away

I turned the lights off, to the black
Though inconvenient, I walked you back
Fifteen minutes late, was all it took
To realize that I mistook
You for a sane human being
